5 Ways to Detoxify Your Office

Living a healthy lifestyle is becoming a bigger priority to those at home as well as at work. This goes beyond just preventing the common cold. There are dozens of viruses popping each cold and flu season, and for those of use with children or sick family members, the last thing we need to worry about is contributing to the problem by brining germs home from work. You don’t just have to be a parent to worry about germs, bacteria, and viruses, though. There are a number of ways to create a healthy and detoxified work environment for those of all ages. Consider starting with these five tips to detoxify your office.

Improve air quality:

Clean the air in your office using a desktop air filter for continual fresh air. Also, be sure to change out the air filter in the office’s main ventilation system. Popular filters, such as Honeywell Filters, keep air clean throughout the enclosed space. Both desktop air filters and a maintained ventilation system provide a natural way to keep air clean.

Change out computer monitors:

Radiation-reduction computer monitors are an effective way to detoxify your office. These monitors are less damaging to skin than standard monitors. Sitting directly in front of your computer daily can put your skin in jeopardy of damage and radiation effects. These radiation-reduction monitors offer a simple health-improving assett to your office.

Computer sanitizing and cleaning:

Use a computer vacuum to clean out the hard-to-reach areas of your keyboard and desktop. That way, germs aren’t building up over time. Use rubbing alcohol and a cloth or cotton to clean off the computer’s keyboard. For keyboards with raised keys, cotton swabs allow you to get in between spaces if you’re not comfortable with removing the keys and snapping them back in following cleaning.

Sanitize all work surfaces frequently:

Clean your desktop as well as other work surfaces daily using sanitizing sprays and wipes to ensure germs and bacteria issues are controlled. If you’re interested in a chemical-free option, fill a spray bottle with one part vinegar and four parts water. For particularly difficult areas to clean, consider making a paste from baking soda and water so you’re able to scrub up messes without using a chemical based cleaner.

Sanitizers in common areas:

In common areas of the office, such as restrooms and break rooms, keep hand sanitizer pumps available for all employees and staff to use frequently. This works best for those who are on the run and don’t have time to wash their hands as often as they would like.

Because working in close proximity with others lends itself to the spread of viruses and other health issues, following these five basic steps are imperative to preventing illnesses or the spread of germs. The best practice is to keep your work area as clean as possible and to encourage your co-workers, employees, and other staff members to do the same. Not only will this create a detoxified work environment for everyone, but it will also reduce the number of sick days in the workplace.
